The standup paddleboard discipline of the 2016 Ultimate waterman took place in the deep deep south of the Southland region. The waves fired along a lefthand point break and Zane Schweitzer (HAW) obliged with a big win over double whammy surfer Caio Vaz.

The athletes travelled to the West Coast of the South Island to contest the SUP Surf discipline scoring pumping 6-8ft surf on a right-hand point break. Zane Schweitzer took out the win with Caio Vaz moving into the lead in the overall standings.
